Theft Prevention Tips
  • Lock gates
  • Brand livestock - make sure the brand is recorded
  • Take pictures or video record livestock and equipment
  • Display Trespass signs
  • Don't build pens close to a highway
  • Don't leave keys in equipment
  • Don't park trailers or equipment close to the highway
  • Participate in your local law enforcement crime watch program

How To Report a Theft
If you believe livestock or equipment has been stolen, contact law enforcement
or the Ag Hotline at 1-800-342-5869.
 
Be prepared to provide them with:
  • Your name, address and telephone number
  • What was stolen
  • When the theft occurred (between what dates)
  • When was the last time you saw your livestock
  • Were there any identifying marks on the livestock
    • brand
    • ear tags
    • ear notches
    • marks or scars
    • pictures of livestock
